The M 1911 handgun is made by many different companies and there are subtle differences you shoudl note. The 1911 is the former sidearm of the US army and many other world militaries. It saw action in World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam and other wars.

The us govt produced 2.2 million of these when they were the service pistol of the US army. It is a very popular and "common" handgun in Canada. It is beloved by handgun enthusiasts the world wide and there are millions of them in ciruclation. It was designed by legendary gun designer John Browning. Some of the companies who manufacture this weapon are: colt, browning, kimber arms, springfield armory and others have made it or knockoffs over the years. Samuel Colt was the fuonder of the Colt company and designer of many arms.
